Tucson is developing the foundation for the creation of an innovative, multidimensional, inland port with multiple facilities throughout Southern Arizona. Since no two inland ports in the United States are alike, this unique distribution and logistics hub will facilitate the free and competitive flow of regional and international trade between the U.S. and other markets, such as Mexico, Latin America and the Pacific Rim. Its goal is to provide convenient, cost-effective access to all corners of our fast growing global marketplace.

Southern Arizona features a transportation infrastructure that saves companies time, money and labor costs by providing services and logistical support, making the regional and global marketplace easily accessible. Companies may benefit by qualifying to operate in a Foreign Trade Zone and may be able to utilize the Enterprise Zone Program to receive state corporate income tax credits.

Southern Arizona will serve as an important commerce center, providing commercial services for easier trade access, cost-effective manufacturing and  warehousing along with shorter delivery and fulfillment times.

Effective July 1, 2007, the Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities (TREO) office is managing the inland port initiative. As the inland port is developed Tucson will experience exciting economic development opportunities that will greatly contribute to the region's vitality and the quality of life for Arizonans.
